Abstract
In this interview, Jak Yakar recalls his experiences working as a field assistant at Çatalhöyük in 1963 under the direction of James Mellaart where his jobs included cleaning wall paintings and the twin leopard relief. Prof. Yakar discusses Çatalhöyük in the context of Anatolian prehistory and offers his own approach to archaeological interpretation as a result of forty years of work as a field archaeologist in Turkey. This interview was conducted in Sebastopol, California, on May 4, 2007.
